I’ve always had a natural creative flair and passion for colour, long before my career became focused on the world of design. But it was after raising my family, I realised I was serious about pursuing my dreams and completed the first of many colour & design courses. I’ve never looked back!

Throughout my early interior design studies, I was always fascinated with the effect of colour and how this could alter, not only the visual appearance of an environment, but the emotions of the people using the space.

I originally set-up my first colour & interior design business in Nottingham in 2003, providing both domestic and commercial design as well as a number of colour consultancy services. One key project was working as a freelance colour consultant for Crown Paints. I also worked as a Design Tutor at the National Design Academy. It was here that I met people that introduced me to Colour Psychology and this ignited my passion even further.

Whilst running my first design business I was introduced to AkzoNobel and went on to work with them and their paint brand Dulux extensively for a number of years. Having worked with them as a client, they invited me in 2010 to join Diversity who were an agency managing several of their Dulux interior design services. During my time at Diversity I progressed to a board level Design Director, overseeing all Dulux design projects and services, managing the large teams working on them.

I relocated to Dorset in August 2016 and re-opened my own consultancy business at the start of 2017, whilst also working as a visiting lecturer specialising in colour & professional practice on the BA (Hons) Interior Architecture & Design course at Arts University Bournemouth (AUB). Supporting the designers of the future is something I am extremely passionate about and so I continue to be a guest speaker for the MA Interior Design course at AUB, along with providing specific industry presentations to contribute to the modules on the BA Interior Design at Falmouth University.

In June 2019 I was given an amazing opportunity to join Akzonobel and work directly with them and the Dulux Trade brand again as a Senior Colour Designer.  With a wealth of experience and expertise in leveraging the transformative power of colour, I’m now fulfilling my passion of working closely with Dulux clients to build confidence and unlock the power of colour beyond pure aesthetics.

Whilst working at AkzoNobel I've studied with the University of Stirling Dementia Services Development Centre to complete their RIBA approved course on the key principles of dementia friendly design. 

I am now the resident 'Design for Dementia' expert within the business and advocate for dementia design principles to be incorporated across all sectors.

I am also an advocate for Neurodiversity and designing for the mind. I believe that specific design features can make public places more inclusive for everyone by reducing the likelihood of sensory overload, anxiety, or distress, ideal for those who are neurodivergent i.e. Autistic, ADHD etc.

As mentioned above, I have a passion for sharing my expertise and knowledge with others so I am also a mentor for Arts Emergency, which is an award-winning charity that supports young people to flourish in higher education, training and careers in the creative industries.
